CONVENTIONS
Nepal
is the ideal location for conferences. Within a decade, this
Himalayan kingdom has become the favorite for MICE tourism. This
is especially true for Asian companies as distances are small,
cost is low and there is much to do besides holding meetings.
Nepal offers a host of recreational facilities including four
casinos, bowling alleys, discotheques, sight seeing tours,
mountain-viewing, rafting and safari trips, etc. besides the
state of the art facilities for conferencing.
World-class
amenities coupled with five-star accommodation makes
conferencing a pleasure in Nepal. Conventions can be organized
not only in the capital city but also in the beautiful setting
of the Pokhara valley with the Annapurna range as a permanent
backdrop. Nepal is a land where a company and its employees can
relax, revitalize, confer and relax again.
Kathmandu and Pokhara have already carved a niche in the
business community with their international standard conference
facilities that can cater to any needs. Nepal offers the perfect
incentive to company executives and employees without burdening
the company’s coffers.

The
biggest facility for conferences in the Kathmandu valley is the Birendra
International Convention Centre (BICC). Located at New
Baneshwar, close to the Tribhuwan International Airport it has a
capacity of accommodating 1,046 persons with 160 desk seats in
the front, 240 theatre seats in the back and an additional 150
observer seats. It is tailor made for big-scale conferences. Add
to this; gallery seating to accommodate more people. Besides
these facilities, there are other conference halls in addition
to which there is an exhibition hall and a separate station for
newspersons. These come with facilities for live TV and radio
broadcast. If the need arises, there are some VIP rooms equipped
with state of the art media operations.
Most
of the luxury hotels around Kathmandu are also equipped for
Conferences and some resorts offer a peaceful atmosphere for
meeting and relaxing. Hotels like the Soaltee Crown Plaza,
Yak & Yeti, De L’Annapurna, The Everest, Radisson and Hyatt
Regency have superb facilities with ample space. With five
star facilities at your service, these are ideal locations for
meeting your every need; be it furnishings, food or
entertainment. At the edge of the valley is another superb
facility for conferences, the Godavari Village Resort.
In
the heart of the city are many halls that can be hired for
conventions and meetings. The Royal Nepal Academy has a
seating capacity of 1,250 people and has a large stage with
built-in Public Address system. The Rashtriya Sabha Griha
can seat 676 people and also has a large stage with built-in PA
System; the Russian Cultural Centre has a seating
capacity of 120 people in the larger hall but also provides
smaller rooms for group discussions. The Bhrikuti Mandap
Exhibition Hall opposite the Rashtriya Sabha Griha offers an
area of 35,000 sq.ft convention facilities. This is also the
venue for trade fairs. These halls mentioned above also provide
space for exhibitions.
In
Pokhara, The Fulbari Resort, The Shangri-La Village and The
Bluebird Hotel are excellent venues for conferencing away
from the city. Pokhara
is only a half hour flight away from Kathmandu and this lake
city is one of the most beautiful locations for a conference
combined with a holiday package. There is much to do in Pokhara
besides conferencing and facilities are of the highest
standards.
